You didn’t see her on TV, but O.C. teen earns golden ticket on ‘American Idol’

Hey guys!!!
As many of you may know I auditioned for the farewell season of American Idol and the response has been so awesome! I would love to share with you some of the amazing articles that have been written about me.
Rancho Santa Margarita teenager Mary Desmond earned a Golden Ticket to the Hollywood Round on “American Idol” on Thursday, though viewers watching at home only got the briefest glimpse of her doing so.
Desmond, 17, sang the R&B standard “Fever” for her audition in San Francisco last fall, but her performance wasn’t seen when “Idol” showed auditions from that city Thursday night.
If you knew she was wearing a red beret you might have caught a quick glimpse of her once or twice during the episode.
But the better evidence appeared on Desmond’s Facebook page after the show – a photo of her holding up a golden slip of paper with the show’s logo accompanied by “Congratulations! You’re going to Hollywood,” and a brief video clip of her running out of the building where auditions were held and doing the I’m-going-to-Hollywood happy dance.
Desmond has nearly 20,000 followers on her Facebook fan page, and her posts quickly started gathering likes and comments.
“Congratulations and we’ll be watching you really impress the judges!” wrote Corey Angeli. “We’ve known that you’re really talented! We enjoyed hearing you perform at the Outlets at San Clemente show in November!”
“So awesome, Mary,” wrote Jaysen Waller. “Enjoy every moment of this journey and just shine as you always do!”
Desmond, a junior at Mission Viejo High School, for years has performed a mix of cover songs and her own material, with her latest YouTube video – for her original song, “Kiss Me” – released this week to coincide with “Idol” premiere week, she says.
